Terms of Service

Welcome to Yegi. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Yegi website, mobile experience, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use Yegi. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for the information you provide and for the activity that happens under your account. Keep your credentials secure and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. You may not impersonate others, share your account, or create accounts on behalf of bots or automated agents.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users.
  • Post content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or that infringes the rights of others.
  • Send spam, scams, unsolicited advertising, or attempts to phish other users.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service or its underlying systems.
  • Use the Service to train a competing AI product or to resell AI-generated outputs as your own.

We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without prior notice.

4. User Content and Community

Yegi lets you write messages, share corrections, react to content, and connect with other learners. You retain ownership of the content you post, but you grant Yegi a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, translate, and process your content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

You can report or block other users at any time. Reports are reviewed and may result in moderation actions described below.

5. Voice Rooms and Real-Time Audio

Yegi offers voice rooms where users can speak with each other in real time over an audio connection. When you join a room as a speaker, other participants in that room can hear you. You are responsible for what you say in voice rooms and must follow the rules in section 3.

Voice room audio is transmitted live and, unless we say otherwise in the app, is not recorded by Yegi. Other participants may still record or share what they hear using tools outside our control, so treat voice rooms as public spaces.

6. Moderation Actions

When you violate these Terms or behave in a way that risks other users, we may take any of the following actions, in order of severity:

  • Warning. We may send you an email explaining what triggered the warning and asking you to review our community rules. Warnings are recorded in your account history.
  • Content removal. We may delete specific messages, profile content, or other material that breaks these Terms.
  • Suspension or ban. We may temporarily or permanently terminate your access to the Service. Banned accounts are signed out of all sessions immediately and cannot sign back in. The underlying data may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

We try to apply the least drastic action that fits the situation, but we may skip directly to suspension or ban for serious violations (for example, harassment, sexual content involving minors, threats of violence, or repeated violations). You may contact us at the email below to appeal a moderation action.

7. AI Features

Yegi uses AI models to power conversations, translations, audio transcription, and other language-learning features. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or culturally inappropriate. Do not rely on AI output for medical, legal, financial, or other consequential decisions. You are responsible for reviewing AI suggestions before acting on them.

8. Subscriptions, Trials, Billing, and Refunds

Yegi offers the following paid plans, billed through Stripe:

  • Monthly — $9.99/month, renews monthly. Includes 180 minutes of AI voice chat per month.
  • 6 Months — $49.99 billed every 6 months. Includes 240 minutes of AI voice chat per month.
  • Annual — $89.99 billed yearly. Includes 360 minutes of AI voice chat per month.
  • Pro — $19.99/month, renews monthly. Includes 600 minutes of AI voice chat per month.

Free accounts receive 10 minutes of AI voice chat per calendar month. By subscribing, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge the payment method you provide on a recurring basis until you cancel.

AI voice chat limits.Paid plans include a monthly allowance of AI voice tutor minutes that resets on the first day of each calendar month (UTC); unused minutes do not carry over. The free tier instead includes a smaller daily allowance that resets each day (UTC). We reserve the right to adjust these limits with 30 days' notice.

Fair use of “unlimited” features. Features described as “unlimited” (such as text chat with the AI tutor and AI translations) are intended for normal, personal language-learning use. To protect the service for everyone, they are subject to reasonable fair-use limits (for example, daily caps that are well above typical use) to prevent automated, abusive, or excessive activity. We may adjust these fair-use thresholds as needed to keep the service available and affordable.

Free trial. New subscribers on eligible plans may receive a 7-day free trial. The trial is available only once per user — once started, no further free trials will be granted, even on a different plan. If you cancel before the trial ends you will not be charged, but the remaining trial days are forfeited.

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Subscription, or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep full access until that date. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law.

Refunds.If you experience a bug, were charged by mistake, or feel a charge was unfair, please open a refund request via Settings → Help & Support before filing a chargeback with your bank. We review refund requests in good faith and typically respond within 1–2 business days. Refund decisions are at our discretion except where required by law.

Chargebacks. Filing a chargeback or dispute with your bank without first contacting us may result in suspension or termination of your account while the dispute is open. Contacting us first is faster for you and helps us keep service costs low for everyone.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Any price change applies only to the billing period after we notify you, and you can cancel before the change takes effect.

9. Support and Communications

You can contact us from Settings → Help & Support or by emailing the address in section 14. Submissions sent through the in-app form are stored as support tickets in our backend so we can track and respond to them. Each user can submit up to 5 support requests per day to prevent abuse.

When we reply to a ticket or send you a moderation notice, we do so by email using the address on file with your account. You can reply to those emails and your response will be attached to the original ticket.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third parties including Clerk (authentication), Convex (database and backend), Stripe (payments), LiveKit (voice rooms), Resend (transactional email and inbound replies), and AI providers such as OpenAI (model inference, transcription, translation). Your use of those services through Yegi is also subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, create risk for Yegi or other users, or if we are required to do so by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Some provisions of these Terms survive termination (for example, ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability).

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Yegi does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI outputs will be accurate.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yegi and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
